Someone mentioned to me that some people wanted to know some of the details and a status of the dock project. Several members have posted wonderful shots of the dock already, so mine may not do it justice. 🙂

The dock is currently 40ft long, using the best available marine grade wood (designed for docks). The POA hired a professional dock builder who lives in the neighborhood (Robert Custodio) rather than using an outside unknown vendor. Robert gave us a decent quote on the dock, and his quality of work is easy to see. When you visit the dock, you’ll see the difficult to navigate (but beautiful looking) cypress trees which line the shore. Anyone who has walked in water around cypress trees knows their roots and knees are everywhere! Nevertheless, Robert and his crew of RT residents were able to get the poles into the bottom and to anchor the dock.

The dock is usable at this point, but please be cautious as there are a few finishing steps remaining for railings and ropes. We also have a large fishing platform that Brian Lutes was able to get for less than $300. of the labor that Brian put into refurbishing the platform has been free to the POA (over 20 hours). This will be installed with a bench and railings making for a great place to sit for the 3 minutes it takes to catch a 12lb bass. (ok, that may be a fish story)

Our current cost for this much needed and community desired project so far is $5400. This includes the high quality materials and professional skills and labor. We expect that the final cost will not be more than $6000 which is well below the original discussed amount at the previous meeting.

Again, please take a ride out to the lake and enjoy the cleared road and parking area, dock, and view of a great looking protected lake with limited private access.
